Be careful Ray you don't become a member of the Scientism club. What a sheltered life you have led, I have found in every walk of life, if you are an employee its always the employer who benefits the most. You didn't mention funding Ray what do these 'real scientists' do if there field of study is not supported? Who do they have to do a dance for, to get the funding? But lets not go to far into the obvious problems of our modern society. “
It is a shame you didn't appreciate what the study revealed or should I say what the people experienced and talked about! Like the what effects of 'knowing the self' can and would do if everyone could experience this wonder. But we miss the mark, living in our made up world of concepts and ideals we have considered and discussed amongst our selves. What big egos we have, yet all around the world burns.
The pastor of Riverside megachurch Jarred Wilson could definitely have done with the experience offered in the study, by these mudfuds.

“Kabir This world is a house made of wood, and, lo! it is burning furiously;
He who stays in it dies.
The Yogi withdraws from it in meditation and he is saved.
Thy birth as man is a ripe fruit which is seen only once; make the most of the practice of devotion and compassion and the acquisition of true Knowledge.
O Kabîr, there is a way out of this illusory world: Know the soul at any cost. “
I was lucky to find a way, through traditional Raj yoga (Yoga does not mean wrapping your legs around your neck, how would a disabled person find inner peace that way. Yoga = Union), seeing and being engulfed in 'ITs' power and love is beyond words, (Dr Jb taylor said, “Euphoria! Euphoria!”) it changed my attitude to life in such a wonderful loving and peaceful way. By the way She had no prior training in focusing her mind to stillness, she could have experienced much more.
Funny thing in India they have always treated their teachers with honour, the title for a King is Raja and the tittle of a great teacher is Raji, they say God is every where but without teacher) how we would we know our selves, certainly not through reading ANY religious text or texts, chanting, candles, whale music, yoga mats/shoes. I am, after experiencing one for myself, in agreement with them.
I have posted you a few vids of a spiritual nature, have you not noticed that for what ever reason when the mind shuts up people can experience their 'Ground of Being', 'The Elan Vital' and so touch the Divine? here's a poem of Ravidas put to music,
[www.youtube.com] hit the translate button for english

A bit of history. At the time of Ravidas, Kabir, Nanak and others, people lived through very bad times for India, it had been at war for many, many years culminating in the Moghal Empires total destruction of Delhi. These mystic saints brought a message of peace and love, at this dreadful time and far better than that, the way to enjoin with the divine. The Sikh teachers revered them so much they put their poems and prose in to their book of spiritual sayings, the 'Guru Granth Sahid'

Sorry for the delay and some what bitty response I am not well at the moment. malc
