Can Science--empirical science--provide an explanation for your spiritual experiences?
The key to answering this question Ray, comes down to each of us defining what we think “your spiritual experiences “ (YSE) means. If a person defines YSE as 1. my personal physical experience of the world about me and my determination of it’s meaning, I suppose empirical science could help to understand. However, if a person defines YSE as 2. my personal experiences of things passing through my mind that are not sensible aspects of the world out there, then empirical scientists would be at a real disadvantage in helping.
I am just thinking that no scientific theory is meant to replace a person’s personal experiences as a matter of definition. Generally, scientific theories should help better understand our personal experiences of the same subject matter.
Any scientist will answer those questions with a quick, "no."
A scientist answering this why would probably be thinking of No. 2, above. So my answer would be, “It depends.”
I have to finish the vacuuming. Bye for now.
