A very faulty question to start with. Since the word spiritual has as many definitions as there are people, it cannot be linked with experiences which can be empirically tested.Quote
Can Science--empirical science--provide an explanation for your spiritual experiences?
No. How does it work for you?Quote
Or, can empirical science serve as a foundation for Religion--or any deeper understanding of the meaning of life for you?
And cannot be defined in the first place, so a study cannot be set up.Quote
Any scientist will answer those questions with a quick, "no." Empirical science can't provide a satisfactory explanation for spiritual experiences, because spiritual experiences cannot be studied directly at all with the most powerful scientific methods, and only indirectly with less powerful methods.
