I’m beyond that Ray, but I appreciate the gesture.
I was more disappointed by the level of your answers.
-“Maybe best to read my dialogue with Tom to get my POV--or read Jim's dialogue with me on this thread.”
Before I posted my answers to you I read the whole discussion you had with Tom e.a. so I was well aware of your point of view.
-“we make a sharp distinction between art and science.”
That may be true, but at the same time it is the reason that science has degenerated so much.
-“In German speaking countries, the word is wissenschaft for everything.”
I don’t know where you got your information, but this is absolute nonsense and so is this example:
-“In the German sense, Joseph Conrad is a scientist”
Joseph Conrad is considered a traveler and a novelist not a scientist.
This is really misleading information!
We can agree, however, on one point:
-“that the scientific way--in this American sense--is a completely different way of thinking.”
But I have to add, that the way you try to bring this to the attention of Tom (and also Susan) is absolutely impossible from a didactic point of view.
Time for a paradigm shift!
