[www.youtube.com] 'Unity, grow till tall' 5.20. This is by the Icelandic musician 'Jonsi'
In the Lifa show I only like the ladies voice parts, the rest I have edited out, the clips I posted has mostly the lady singing luckily. I have a close friend who loves history like I do and his daughter is doing a masters in Sweden on Viking history and it kind of links in with a whole history / Viking / Saxon / Norse invasion / Alfred the great, stuff which we are into.
Can I say I have had since my childhood a love of the female voice in particular, I am not sure why it touches me so deeply, it is perhaps because my mother was a amateur pianist and singer, I have few memories of her as she died when I was 4yrs old, she was also Sunday school teacher and we had a piano in the house. I think she would play and sing when I was young and I think this maybe a factor, some sort of lost memories of her from before my memories really became clear, I missed her terribly. I have loved music all my life, I have some 400+ cds classical through to Rock and I have a very good sound system, because of this love.
I am glad you liked the Sufi stuff, I spent a couple of years involved in a Guderjerati community while being taught Raj Yoga many years ago and picked up a liking for some Indian Bhajans and last year I was involved in the Dewali celebrations (the festival of light) in the Delhi area. This led to listening to some new songs which I am still enjoying.
There is a sufi song [www.youtube.com] 'Uddi ja' or 'Go soar' at 5.57 it mentions Jesus, they have no direct translation for crucifixion so the line goes “He is nearer to us than our own jugular vein; and it was he who said' I am the truth' and went to the gallows” so my Indian friend tells me, also the word prophet is no different than when used in the old testament, I also like the use of the word beloved for God. There are lines saying some Islamic religious observance is a waste of time, one can see why they are hated in Islam as they point out its flaws, only Love is worth anything!
Anyway I am starting to ramble so I will shut up. All the best malc
