I just would like to tell you that my REACTION to my boss was remorseful. He actually helped me to decide to retire at my current age of 64 (soon to be 65 in July). I will be applying for Social Security soon. I already have an account of Medicare set up for myself to utilize in case my health changes. So far I'm OK. All I have to do now is visit the Social Security office within two weeks (my one week vacation starts April 6 through 14).
So, it took some very needed discussion to conclude with this choice, which will help pay for my Medicare premium. I couldn't be happier than now. I get financial benefits and can still work for the rest of my life.
Thankyou for your comments. I chose not to claim "disability" benefits because I am actually functional at work. The SS is the best choice for right now. I will also benefit in less hours working.
Everyone has a livelihood and some should remember that their contribution to this Forum is a legitimate exercise in intelligent conversation about real life situations, especially the inhibited lifestyles that keep some limited in their activities. I feel very strongly about that kind of lifestyle, because it could also happen to me, or anybody. That is the truth of aging and debilitation. I may likely have my own health problems due to smoking cigarettes. We will see!!
