It's not an excuse. It's the way rational thought works.
I 'believe' in nothing. Nothing in this universe requires my belief to exist. I don't even 'believe' the sun will rise tomorrow. I'll be extremely surprised if it does not, but my beliefs won't be dashed, because they're not required for celestial mechanics to work.
You want me to believe in anything, provide evidence that can be falsified. Everything else is just believing what you think is true.
