Unless you can find evidence to the contrary, I think you will find that species have some glitches in DNA replication plus random mutations which, if they enable the species to survive a change in environment etc then they are able to adapt. Humans cannot produce their own adaptations to order. Modern medicine may be influencing that slightly, but not enough to alter species change.
