In the early 20th century it was being observed that quantum particles were very strange – that they seemed not to obey the laws of physics; (i.e. they reacted to human observation, they appeared to be both a particle and a wave, it was not possible to measure both their position and momentum etc. etc.). In 1926 a group of world renowned quantum physicists, led by Danish Niels Bohr, developed what has later become known as the Copenhagen Interpretation. Their basic contention, broadly accepted by most quantum physicists to this day, is that nothing can exist without consciousness. The connection between consciousness and the physical is fundamental to the God Gametes concept. Quoting from my book Living Body Earth; Chapter 1 – Our Living Body Earth and the God Gametes Theory; sub section, The primacy of Consciousness:

… Quantum physicists claim nothing exists without an observer – and the material universe is merely the manifestation of consciousness. Thus our claim that parent species are reproducing their consciousness (their soul) is supported by the quantum belief in the primacy of consciousness.  
Many early cultures saw the universe as a great mind and our material world as merely an illusion. For example:

• In the Americas the pyramid of consciousness defines ancient Mayan beliefs. Shaman and priests from these cultures believed consciousness was the most basic form of existence.
• Many ancient Eastern traditions saw the cosmos and human awareness as a single entity. The Hindu faith believe the mantra Aum (or Om) embodies the fabric of the entire universe.
• Similar to the belief in the mantra the Old Testament creed tells us that; ‘In the beginning was the word.’ The absence of a physical connection between living matter and our creator is further evidenced by the concept of a ‘virgin birth’.
• The Indian Vedic tradition, in particular the Advaita Vedanta teachings, hold that the universe consists of a single homogenous substance called Brahman. Brahman is said to be beyond space and time and is the essence of consciousness.
• The Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories say creation has no beginning and no end and that the spirits of their ancestors always existed.
• The classical Greek scholar Plato believed the perfect geometric form of knowledge was the twelve sided dodecahedron, and in his day the world was shaped like a dodecahedron. He said the perfect geometric form of justice was the twenty sided icosahedron, and over time the world would evolve into an icosahedron.
• In the 17th century French philosopher Rene Descartes advanced the famous axiom; “I think therefore I am.” His theory was based on the notion that nothing perceived or comprehended is necessarily true. He asserted; ‘… an object could only be sensed because there was a mind to sense it’.

In recent times quantum physics has established experimentally that the properties of matter and energy cannot exist without consciousness. Quoting English physicist, astronomer and mathematician, Sir James Jeans:

I incline to the idealistic theory that consciousness is fundamental, and that the material universe is derivative from consciousness, not consciousness from the material universe… In general the universe seems to me to be nearer to a great thought than to a great machine. It may well be, it seems to me, that each individual consciousness ought to be compared to a brain-cell in a universal mind.

Sir James Jeans speculates on us being a ‘brain-cell’ in a universal mind. The God Gametes theory suggests instead that each individual consciousness ought to be considered a ‘reproductive-cell’ in a universal mind.
Quantum theory seems to be saying that beyond mass and energy is a cosmos that is the manifestation of consciousness. Our model contends that beyond the bits of energy and matter that make up our physical bodies lies the ‘consciousness’ Germ-line of the Gods.
