Don't we all have our own brain to study? Don't we all compare some of our abilities to the abilities of others and wonder why they can do something and we cannot?

Or why we can do something and they cannot.

Have a look at the Rubic Cube topic on the Misc board and my comment to it...

It is a wonderful example of the brain consciously processing a few thousand pieces of information when the brain takes in tens of thousands of pieces of information per second, and this kid is focusing in on bits of information that are quite extraordinary for the amount of time his eyes see something quite complex and works out how to manipulate the cube to solve it...and 3 cubes flashing before his eyes for a split second, let a lone one second.

That is a lot of info being processed where certain pieces are caught. I bet he forgets to brush his teeth before bed lol. I say that because I sometimes do lol...it is a simple comparison between two brains where my experience might be the experience of another...or not...I'd have to ask him and find out...immerse myself in his world instead of just imagining.

I can look up to the sky and see a dog chasing a ball in the clouds. I know it isn't a dog chasing a ball because they are clouds...but I have to know what a dog chasing a ball looks like to make the connection....and then they are just clouds in the sky...puffy things coursing along and changing shapes.

As a kid up until nearly 3, I had an imaginary friend named Mary who stood on the palm of my hand. She appeared after my brother was born and I got to practice what it was like to teach Mary things about my surroundings until my brother became my side-kick. Going to bed, I would even get my mum to kiss Mary goodnight, and she would lay on the pillow next to my head with the blanket pulled up to her chin, just like me. She disappeared when my brother was able to make sentences because I would talk to Mary about things and he would listen to what I was saying, and also be interested in what I was telling Mary about grass or the fence or our dog or when to brush our teeth or anything really. I had her for over a year and she was with me and my brother every moment. He wasn't sure about her though...I could 'see' her, mum kissed 'her', and yet there was no-one there.

One day I was asked where Mary had gone and I said she went down the road to another boy who just got a new baby brother.

True story...just like all the other stories I tell...based upon personal experiences.

Sometimes looking up doesn't mean we're not looking down
