I'm not so sure about that. I take responsibility for any action I take but am aware that it is I, a human, who have done the wrong, thought the unkind thought, etc. I never think of any of it as sin ... ... since I have no religious overtones at all.
You were raised in a moderately religious household based on what you have told us in the past. You may have no religious overtones today, but don’t ignore the past!
Disagree! Secular people, humanists, atheists are usually well aware that morality dates from way, way back before Christianity. You would be very hard pushed to find a moral precept in Christianity that did not have plenty of precedents.
Christianity is the community that brought these ancient moral precedents to Europe and tried to enforce them. Did they wholly succeed? No but teaching ancient moral ideas is a good thing whatever the consequences. Remember culture is an intellectual set of beliefs that try to calm wild animals. Nothing always works!
