This video came up when I was updating on Hawaii:
Quite interesting, worth the hour.

Flood Basalts of the Pacific Northwest

He charts the movement of the continent over the Yellowstone Hot Spot
He compares the various large lava flows visible on Earth.

About 30 minutes in he switches from chalkboard to photographs of Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

It gets a bit spectacular when you see what the hot spot did, and when you realize that three of the largest flows on Earth, Siberia and ???, and India, happpened when Pangea was splitting apart, . . . Along with 2 major extinction events.

One point to hang onto is that the Yellowstone Hot Spot has indeed erupted many times in exactly the same manner that Hawaii is experiencing today
....
Hot lava flowing downhill in vast quantity, but very hot, and flowing, not blowing up as it did later when it was farther inland.

This seems to me to offer some hope of removing the threat of a very destructive scenario originating at Yellowstone.

Might require large and creative preparation, but it can be envisioned, so the harder part is already done.

Considering the impact that this caldera poses, it seems to me we might consider augmentation to forestall violent venting.
