Ray,
You miss my point. Obviously an individual aircraft has a very small effect, which is also very difficult to measure. However, I am postulating a cumulative effect which will be multiplied up when all aircraft are doing the same thing. So the experiment(s) would have to be designed in such a way that the other normal variables are taken into account, by appropriate controls, and the airline flight control system sets up and carries out the experiments. The parameters to be measured are all those I mentioned, with as many other variables removed as possible. Like Jet streams at like times are compared, with isolation as far as possible of the one variable under the examination - large numbers of jet aircraft all in the same jet stream doing the same thing, compared with none in a control jet stream.

Where normal people come in is to insist that the data, if there already (which I doubt), are presented, and if not that the question is treated seriously by the aircraft industry, meteorologists, and air traffic controllers, and attempts are made to answer it. Brushing it under the carpet by defining Newton's third law of motion as irrelevant or too costly to face is not adequate. And as far as cost is concerned, what about all the possible indirect costs of the hurricanes, storms, floods, wild fires and tornadoes costs of which everyone else has to foot, acknowledged to be due to altered jet stream behaviour, and that might in turn be being caused in this way?
