Thanks Nebankh,

Curiosity can be a terrible thing, well not really, actually I'm very thankful for my endless curiosity about culture and history. I have heard of all those performers, probably saw them mentioned in NME and such when I used to read it, Sounds and MM back in the day, but alas I am not familiar with the music of any of them. My 80's tastes tended to be fairly left field when it came to Brit pop (This Heat, The Raincoats, YMG, etc.) and even more so for Japanese music (After Dinner, The Polka Dot Fire Brigade, Lacrymosa). I do remember meeting Echo and the Bunnymen in passing (weren't they from Liverpool as well?) at an in-store appearance at this shop I worked at called Singles Going Steady, after the Buzzcocks collection. Thanks for the links and indulging my nosey parkerness.

This classic exchange took place on a Simpsons episode about a heatwave in Springfield:

Homer: Name me one person who ever did anything good before air conditioning?

Marge: Balzac!

Homer: no need for potty mouth.
