For my take on the scrabble/chess preference just looka t my reply to Randy above! ;-)
I seem to remember or possibly only heard of a suggestion of women being better in the communication area compared to abstract/problem solving, generally speaking.
Where men tend to do better in the problem solving/hands on type of things compared to communication style situations.
Of course this isn't a statement of incompetence on either genders abilities! More like a thought on areas of higher capabilities.
Just for the record on the above chess problem/question, I learned how to play chess 20 years ago but only came upon this move 4 years ago! It was played during a chess game between my 5 year old daughter and myself! She was playing white and moved the pawn, that is when the argument over validity commenced!
Now, 5 years later I sit here still not sure but 99% convinced it is legal within the rules that I have here.
Moments like this one is when I am glad my Father taught me to never underestimate anyone! LOL
