I have the same problem with scrabble! My daughters are getting too smart too quickly and I have a hard enough time trying to finish the crossword puzzles for kids let alone match wits with them!
I will not play scrabble with their mother either, there is no contest! If you have happened to hear the comedian Bill Engvalls take on scrabble, then you will see my dilema!
She is the daughter of an English/Language Arts teacher of over 30 years, has a sister who taught English for about 10 years(now a psychologist/therapist), and her father taught the Bible in three languages(English, Latin, Hebrew) at a college for those who desire a position in religion! So you can see the waste of time for me! LOL
I think all parents and children( more so the parents!!) should watch the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" if they are deciding to embark on a competitive path, no matter whether it is chess, football, cheerleading, or cowtipping!
This movie gives a great look into the real way to play games!
