"300 million deaths or maims a day?"

- No, no, no. We have over 300 million firearms in the US and each day those tools are used properly. I don't mean that they're fired. We don't know how many of those are fired but we do know that around 300 people have a bullet enter or hit their body (suicides included) each day. Compare that to 6,000 car injuries per day, of which there are around 270 million vehicles.

"It has for sure made a difference in Australia."

- Statistically, I don't see a difference. Was the murder trend not downward well before, during, and now after this so-called "buy back?" Isn't the US's trend also down? Haven't both populations increased over the past 4 decades? Hasn't the number of US gun owners increased too? I'm sorry, I just don't see a connection between the Aussie scheme and its championed results.

"they are not weapons of mass destruction, neither are cars."

- Hold up, don't slide backwards now. They are tools whose action is determined by the user. They have no agency. Some chick in Texas just used one to fight off five guys who intended her mass destruction. I'm sure she's happy to not live in Australia... just sayin'. From my perspective, being anti-gun or no guns at all, is one of the most anti-woman, pro-inequality positions to have. I'm sure that pisses off some people and may even outrage you but ain't nothing else on the planet gonna level the field between a 90 lb woman and a 250 lb man in a physical contest better than a firearm. Or, like our Annie Oakley's story, her vs 5 guys.

- And as for cars, same thing goes... although if I jump into a semi truck, for instance, and drive as fast as I can down a crowded street, let's say, I'm gonna kill and destroy a lot of people, lives, and property quite easily. One push of my lead foot and scores of people are dead. That's not the truck's idea but mine. My propane BBQ tank doesn't want to blow holes in and through scores of people either. Neither does my fertilizer and gas....
