I would like to get a take from those of you out there as to why you think that the work of people like Graham Hancock is so feared by the intellectual establishment.

Clearly many are simply mentally limited, and are therefore scared by the implications. Others obviously have become so committed to their opinions, and to their "life's work," that they will not accept anything else, no matter what the evidence. However, there are many scientists and historians out there who clearly have the sense and vision to understand the many limitations of the current dominant theories, and yet continue to shirk their responsibilities to the pursuit of knowledge by dismissing good research which happens to question such theories. I feel sometimes that there may be more to this then simple human weakness...
