Was it too hard? Whoever it was didn't have any problem facing and pillaring the Valley Temple with 60 tons slabs of perfectly cut granite. Other speculations are, if Menkaure, he died/ran out of money leaving the work incomplete. Not so sure....

The casing stones are there, question is how high did they go.
