I think this article is confused in general and is using stock photos not knowing what it is or where it's from. Roman quarried marble from Egypt was known as "Imperial Porphyry" and comes exclusively from the Mons Porphyrites (Mountain of Porphyry) quarry about 30 miles from Mons Claudianus. It is unique and is the only place in the world it is found.
Obviously quite different than any of the columns even those at Mons Porphyrites.
