It's a possibility...also, the iron pc. could've slid even farther down between the gaps in the body blocks from its original position due to the blasting effects. (They did also clear several feet of 'rubbish' out of the shaft...how near is 'near' the S. Shaft?)
Correct, we have no way of telling for sure.
