It required less than 20,000 men. Part of those figures are based on Stone Puller Teams. A Hollywood myth, created from a lack of imagination. That figure is constantly being revised down, as evidence is uncovered. Dr. Mark Lehner is due great credit, for this enlightenment. The "Barracks" behind Khafrey's Pyramid, where his soldiers were supposedly stationed, have no fire pits. Google Earth them and compare to the Mastabas.
