I don't believe that man has advanced evolutionarily in the last 4500 years. If anything I'd say we've devolved but then someone might think I believe in the nonsense called "evolution" or "survival of the fittest". Change in species is the result of behavior that is associated with genes.
Human progress is real but is the result of language, not intelligence. Progress today and for the last 800 years is chiefly the result of scientific language.
There was no real human progress between the collapse of the tower of babel and the invention of modern science. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that human progress was spotty between the collapse and modern science.
