MS: Yes, Creighton, why would Hill and Vyse put two dots there, when according to you they were guided by materials which did not show two dots in the cartouche of “Suphis”?
SC: I do not recall having ever said what you claim I said. Perhaps you have merely misunderstood one of my earlier statements?
This is a copy of Vyse's 'master' (from his private journal):
Wherever Vyse copied the cartouche above from it was aligned horizontally, had an unhatched disc and had two markings under the snake glyph. This 'master' was copied into Campbell's Chamber, initially with the unhatched disc. Later, when Vyse observed Khufu cartouches with hatched disc (at Tomb of the Trades), he then added those lines to the disc in Campbell's Chamber. This explains the contradiction in Vyse's private journal where he draws the unhatched disc (twice) and then the hatched disc.
