I will definitely have to read this book. I've always been critical of any world hunger programs, including UNICEF, as the food and money never gets to the people who need it. Who is really benefitting from these programs, anyway? Not the homeless and the hungry, that's for sure, because they're still homeless and hungry! As for solving the hunger problem in Africa--it's AFRICA, for cryin' out loud! That continent has always had prolonged periods of drought, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people, yet somehow the Africans have managed to survive it. Droughts are made worse now by improper farming practices, the destruction of forests, overgrazing by goats and cattle, and pollution--problems which will never be solved with a little bit of rice and wheat. There has to be a better way.
