He didn't mention it at all in 2012 Story, which is JMJ's latest book.
I would highly recommend this book, which you can get in softcover
at a reasonable price, as a kind of compendium on 2012. It's really a
seminal work that goes into how '2012' got popularized in the first place,
how the New Age market started piggybacking on the concept, then
twisting it so it seemed to fit into other ideas that were promoted by
people in the spirituality business.
You are absolutely right to be annoyed or worse when it comes to
how much the 2012 thing has been co-opted and distorted by people
who willfully ignore the scholarship involved. It is ironic that JMJ gets
wrongfully lumped in with those people because, for those who look,
his track record is very clear in terms of his willingness to explicitly
point their errors out, in the name of preserving what he feels is the
real integrity of the subject!
All I can say is that the rest of us should be thankful there is a guy out
there who is working as hard as he is. Without John's work, it does seem
like the mainstream Mayanists would never have given any serious
consideration to the 2012 issue at all.
