Geology is the best way of dating the Giza Necropolis and most of Egypt's ancient monuments. Like one reads tree rings to date,..one does the same with the erosion of stone. The problem is that archeologists state that the Saqqara Necropolis predates that of Giza,..but funny enough the Saqarra Necropolis is nearly void of erosion on its stone blocks. Archeology has no place in this business,..they should shove off and let the geologist do their expertise work. Here is an example of weathered tafoni erosions found on the Sphinx temple blocks:
This type of erosion is unique to Giza and will not be found anywhere else on this earth since there is nothing as ancient. The closest to the Giza erosion patterns can be found on the megalith stones of Malta,..but even they are not as ancient. This is one of my favorite photos out of the many I have taken.
