On page ten of The History of Britain Revealed, a most interesting chart appears, in which the truly anomolous nature of Britains supposed linguistic history is made clear. Here is my version of the situation it reveals.

The current historical paradigm claims that the following western european countries were invaded and occupied by the indicated groups and the dominant language either remained "static" or was "completely replaced," as indicated (each invader is listed in reverse chronological order).

Portugal
Arabs -- static
Vandals -- static
Visigoths -- static

Spainl
Arabs -- static
Vandals -- static
Visigoths -- static

France
Normans -- static
Franks -- static
Bugundians -- static
Vandals -- static
Visigoths -- static

Italy
Normans -- static
Lombards -- static
Ostrogoths -- static
Vandals -- static
Visigoths -- static

Britian
Normans -- static
Danes -- static
Anglo-Saxons -- completely replaced

M.J.Harper goes on to say that the biggest anomoly associated with this chart is not that the Anglo-Saxons alone succeeded in completely suplanting the indiginous language, but that the chart itself, nor anything like it, can be found in the academic literature devoted to study of the phenomena. The anomoly is rarely if ever acknowledged as being something in need of explanation.

Do you agree with Harper that there is something "anomolous" about the effect ascribed by historians to the Anglo-Saxon invasion? Do you agree that this anomoly has not received due attention?
