Good point. There was some mention of this odd coincidence in "Fire from Ice" as well. I don't recall all the details, however. The names of elements are traditionally chosen by the discoverer and palladium was discovered back in the 19th Century. At that time they were using Greek mythology to select names and palladium turned out to also be an alchemical principle as you describe. It seems like there was something else to the coincidence as well. Guess I'll check the book out again next time I go to the library.
