Ok i think most will get what you are "Really" saying there.
When the evidence is so overwhelming for the use of a unit "equivalent" to the inch being used , and based on the 12 base imperial system , yes you should as you say in your slightly sarcastic quote above, recalculate your work, or at least be more open to the possibility that we don't have all the facts available concerning what units were in use in their time.
