Hi Hans

The whole point is THEY DID NOT. 'They' hauled smaller stones (not insignificant) and rendered them (significant render).

Actually I've arranged for a trip for us to Peru and Bolivia next year when she retires.

I do not know whether you are 'takin the piss" or serious?. (You do seem to luv an argument!)
But, regardless it is an excellent choice, despite the 'hunch' that I believe you have been there before (possibly many times?)
I did the same for Xmas 2015.

I think u r a US citizen? Do you consider yourself European? or "Western civilized"? That distinction all happened in circa 300+years recent years.

The Inca were the last part of the developing chain of at least 3 era's in their locale. There was an overlap. Continuation of long lost (specifically) mythology . They depicted in GOLD and the Spanish destroyed (melted or burned) almost everything in Sth America Inca and before ! …. in the name of their GOD!
( you are still European decent ...yes? ;-)

The "Temple of the Moon" in Cusco will be a MUST DO attraction.

When you are there I would like you to pay particular attention to:
1. This piece of damage
As you likely know from an elevated tourist platform

And, note carefully the difference in the internal constitution of the "Andesite" rock

(Sorry pinched photo (from Thanos5150 post). But I have many better ones, but this will do !)

Also note the seeming vitreous nature of the joints to blocks in particular ( I do not think, necessarily, heat)

Also as you move around note that some of these huge blocks are resting in teeny weensy little foundation blocks? WHY? They could shape (with copper and pounders? ) "big" ones to millimetre perfect horizontal bases????

This is well worth viewers to watch 39mins
Interesting 39min vid

Hans , if you do not watch it all. No need (but recommended to Mrs!) scroll to 6 min 56secs (for 10 secs) and watch that bit, the 9:24 (for 10 secs) then precisely at 25mins look at the stone crystal structure at the joints.
p Explain that any other way than man made??????? Please?!

These ancient peoples has mastered ceramics and knew clay, could fashion glass and enamel, copper/ gold/ sliver smelting and mining. Did they not recognise the by-product of copper smelting is Sulphuric Acid? Or that natron with clay solidifies limestone chips?
The disaggregation of stone and reconstitution was merely an adjunct to focus on nature and the universe.
No internet, nor any idiot box with FAKE news, to distract them.

Have a good time.
Cheers

Steve
