Doubling a cube is easy approximately.
Take side of cube 2 then answer is 8 now double it to 16.
Ancients did not have calculators so cube root of 2 = 1.2599215 useless to ancients.
They used 1.26 and how they did it was to divide 2 into fifty even spaces and multiply by 63.
2 divided by fifty = 0.04 then multiply by 63 = 2.52 the cube root of 16 nearly.
2.52 cubed = 16.003008.
Same with 3 cubed 27 by 2 = 54.
3 divided by fifty = 0.06 then multiply by 63 = 3.78 cubed = 54.010152
The ancients knew what the answer was but this was a fast way of doing it. A very similar method was used in squaring the circle I think.
