I don't understand why patterns like this happen. But I do know of a precedent. There is certain primitive dingo that was obviously brought to North America by the Native American immigrants. Today it is only present as a feral dog called a Carolina Dog in South Carolina and as a Jindo in the Korean Islands. It is found nowhere in between but it is likely to have lived all across Asia.
