Its seasonal presence pending in the SH, commencing with the advent of September 21st, the Sun is currently in the 'stanstill' zone, Solstice, from where it turns 'around' to commence its journey Southward toward the equator. The effect, as observed from the surface of our planet by tracking Sunrise daily, is a product of Earth's path along the ecliptic - the actual cause of the phenomena: Earth travelling at some 30km/second in a parabolic orbit around the (stationary) Sun, whereby the Solar disc is consequently perceived as changing its rising & setting position against the horizon. Accordingly, the arc traced by the path of the Sun across the sky changes in tandem with the season.
The two 'boat pits' that flank the 'MortuaryTemple' of G1 represent the N - S voyage. In the year 1250 B.C. (which Giza was designed to capture in time), Earth's Polar axis was then slanted at 14° and the Causeway of the GP aligned with Solstice - the Sun's standstill & turnaround point in the NH. In that era, the SolarBoat departed from and returned to the Great Pyramid, "the place of Sunrise & Sunset", hence the 'boat pit' symbolically alongside G1 Causeway.
Portrayed as voyaging along the horizon in a SolarVessel, the SunDisc is targeted at three locations during its journey: the three causeways facilitate Solstice in the hemispheres N & S respectively of the equator (G1 & G2 causeways) and Equinox - midway between the latter, thus twice in one SolarYear and coinciding with Earth relocating 180° along its orbit of the Sun (the direction of its axis slant remaining unchanged respective surrounding space).
More significant however, on two diametrically opposed occasions -- 13 millennia apart -- during a precessional GreatYear, constituting one retrograde Earth rotation, the SolarDisc is hosted against the backdrop of the GalacticNucleus and alternately, its outer edge (the DuatAfterworld & Orion). Coinciding with each event, incurring of 180° Equinox reversal, G3 Causeway aligns with the Orion Galactic Spoke that splits our Galaxy down the middle - thus facing opposite directions into space. Since our Sun is located thereon, meaningful Solar-Earth-Lunar alignments are observable, besides which star constellations also feature. Notable also, perpendicular to the central avenue that links the Duat with the core of our star system, Earth's axis slants in the opposite way to before -i.e. with respect to both, the Sun and the Galaxy.
Upon conlusion of the 1250 BC era, the epic journey of the SolarBoat terminated at its home-port at Giza - retiring to the 'dockyard', alongside GP Causeway, whereupon it was 'mothballed' in commemoration of the closure of the epoch, in which the separation distance between the TropicCircles was 28° - depicted by the combined angle of G1 & G2 Causeways.
ps. The 'boat pits' against the South side of the GP, I imagine, relate to nocturnal celestial shipping associated with the star shafts and true Polar wander. Of significance also, considering Orion being located on the celestial equator, the Equinox advance.
