Spiros writes “Should we consider 5 Khufu boats or 7 Khufu boats(including the Queen's)?
In Greek:
PENTE(five) PLOIA(ships) = (80+5+50+300+5)+(80+30+70+10+1) = 631
ThANATOS(death) = 9+1+50+1+300+70+200 = 631
But what about the one lone ship aligned with the causeway, a causeway that leads to the Valley Temple and eventually to the Nile:
ΕΝ(one) PLOION(ship) = (5+50)+(80+30+70+10+70+50) = 365
365 days in a year
NEILOS(Nile) = 50+5+10+30+70+200 = 365
The seven ships:
EPTA(seven) PLOIA(ships) = (5+80+300+1)+(80+30+70+10+1) = 577
EYAGGELION(Gospel) = 5+400+1+3+3+5+30+10+70+50 = 577
AGGELOS(angel) + ERMON(Hermon) = (1+3+3+5+30+70+200) + (5+100+40+70+50) = 577
ENAS(one) NAOS(temple) = (5+50+1+200)+(50+1+70+200) = 577”
Hello Spiros,
Your calculation of 365 for one ship and the Nile is intriguing.
Greek EN has its source in Sumerian EN. While the meanings found in the Sumerian dictionaries don’t include the number ‘one’, they do include ‘lord, master, ruler’ and ‘exalted’, all attested at the earliest period, given on ePSD at around 3000 BC.
In my re-translation of The Instructions of Shuruppak (The Story of Sukurru), it took me a very long time to translate an unusual and long line that had three EN, one at the beginning, one in the middle and one at the end. Finally, after weeks of frustration, I realised that it was deliberately going around in circles and that EN also had the meaning of END. The line was indicating an endless operation, in the manner of an annual cycle which, of course, brings us full circle to your post and 365 days. Sumerian symbol EN is naturally opposed to NE which is ‘fire’ and ‘renewal’, the phoenix rising – after the winter solstice perhaps?
EN as ‘End’ is not a meaning understood by Assyriologists because it was found with the monosyllabic method of translation. To take this idea further, and perceive the evolution of Sumerian EN into Greek 'one' means delving into Hermetic material…. not a matter that comes to mind in classic god-clogged translating. It also returns us to a more subtle understanding of the ‘ship’ or the ‘vessel’. More attention needs to be paid to the Great of the Great, Master of Masters. Exalted.
Greek Thanatos, 'death', comes from Sumerian TA which is given as ‘what?’ in the dictionaries and translated by me to ‘death’ and ‘question’, the question of death, also origin of tao.
Anyway, thanks for the post, food for thought. But what happened to the three ships from the east? There are wise men waiting for your light.
