You’re really taking a strong line on this, apparently because you can legitimately take the intellectual high ground tantamount to declaring that if the AEs didn’t write something down then they didn’t know it. However, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
By similar reckoning, it would be ridiculous for anyone to try to work out what was in the gaps in a papyrus, such as the RMP, because somebody like you will declare the suggestion to be nonsense because it cannot be proven.
Similarly, if a cartouche is obliterated then it’s nonsense to try to work out the Pharaoh concerned from the context as nobody can actually say for sure who it was because, as you would point out, the name is not physically present.
Recently, I tried to point out that the RMP formula for the area of a circle, that is, [(1-9)d] squared, rather than implying that pi=256/81, may derive from it. By your reckoning, my work was pointless. In fact, any work trying to identify what the AEs may have known is pointless. Badawy’s work on the Fibonacci Series and Golden Mean was pointless.
In fact, it must therefore be pointless to try to understand any culture having an oral tradition from the evidence they left behind, because they didn’t write anything down. They wrote nothing, so we can prove nothing, so it’s pointless trying to make sense of what we see.
Good luck with that one!
