Excavation at Giza: The Solar Boats of Khafra, Selim Hassan 1934-1935
Hassan makes no mention of any Djedfre cartouches being found, unfortunately, though he does not note if any writing was found under the roofing blocks either, so I suppose there is still hope. He is definitely of the mind the trench discovered is a 6th boat pit which he says:
"...a deep cleft in the rock [was discovered near the 5 boat pits], running north-south, which is almost certainly a sixth, unfinished vessel".
Of note is in one of the boat pits was discovered "the forelegs of a limestone sphinx".
In another pit "many" fragments of royal stone statues which he says:
"In fact, the whole of the surrounding site was absolutely littered with such fragments which must represent the destruction of from 300 to 400 statues of the finest workmanship".
Another statue fragment of a head was found with part of a uraeus denoting a king.
A few thoughts to be had is that out of all the statue fragments and objects found unfortunately none identify any particular pharaoh.
The Sphinx fragment is interesting because the only place anything found in the 4th Dynasty depicting a sphinx, also statue fragments except for the Hetepheres sphinx, is at Abu Roash associated with Djedefre, which at least one Egyptologist (though I do not agree), Vassil Dobrev, suggests Djedfre was the maker of the Sphinx as well.
Two of these pits were still roofed over yet Hassan notes nothing regarding any writing or markings on the underside of the blocks. Almost as if he did not look. Given the volume of such found on the underside of both Khufu I and II, standard practice it would appear, this seems a little hard to fathom there would be none even if just quarry marks.
