A good question. There may be a clue. And I hope someone has access to a good library or perhaps it is reprinted online. I cant find it. Anyway if we can find this article it may help.
Piazzi Smyth astronomer-royal Scotland in his 1880 book 'The Great Pyramid' p.7 in a footnote refers to a Chinese envoy Pin-ch-un 'connection between the Great Pyramid and the early monuments of his own country' his reference is 'Athenaum, May 21, 1870 p.677'
These publications went around the world so a copy must exist. A couple of years ago 2002 I tried the British Library but unfortunately, and they were surprised, it was missing.
If anyone could dig it up it would be worthwhile.
