Hi Dr Troglodyte

All the examples I give eg 100/99 1701/1700 34/33 make it fairly obvious that it is n/(n-1) it can't be the other as it is 0.

So when i say n/n-1 n is the numerator n-1 the denominator brackets can be included as you point out to make it clear.

The relationship between the megalithic yard and the imperial system is 34/33 and this holds for all Thom's analyses.

272 converts to 264 using a unit of 34/33 feet or 1.030303030r.

Many of these repeating decimals can be translated using n/(n-1)

Michell discovered and cited 441/440 and 176/175 working within the imperial system and 176 and 440 appear to be relevant to the GP design

34/33 is 1.03030303r x 99 / 100 = 1.02

1.33333r / 10 x 9 = 1.2

regards

DaveK
