Ah, thank you for clarifying that restoration image.

One thing though; what motivation would they have had for changing the Paws? It seems that the Sphinx only barely represented an animal at that point, so why make the effort to change what animal it was supposed to be? One reason might be that they thought it was a Lion and thus made their restorations accordingly.

Does anyone know if the paws are carved from bedrock and encased in the blocks...or is it just a complete block structure?
