You missed the sarcastic irony I tried (but obviously failed) to get across.

My point is that it doesn't matter if you use the "officially recognized text", or some newer derivation of that text if you're trying to suss out real historic events. And that's because neither can be considered to portray historic events any more authentically than the other.

If the "officially recognized" translation of a line of hieroglyphics is "100,000 men hauled stones up ramps 40' off the ground to build the pyramids", but someone takes translates that translation to mean "1,000,000 men hauled stones up ramps 400' off the ground to build pyramids", the keeper of the "officially recognized text" might criticize those who use the non-recognized translation, but neither is necessarily more authentic than the other regarding actual historic events.

Madeleine's "note of caution" might be relevant to preserve the original translation, but the "caution" has no bearing on the actual authenticity of the events portrayed in either text because neither represents physical evidence as it applies to actual historic events.
