Oh what a shame - Germany won with the last kick of the game. Sport is so cruel.

Jacob says

That we employ terms like π, φ, √2, √3 or √5, using decimals and angles is perfectly understandable, because that is way we were trained. It is not the way Ancient Egyptians were trained. They were trained in unit fractions, binary multiplication and division by the Eye of Horace, seked and sadly therein lies the problem. In the Ancient Egyptians world of mathematics based on unit fractions our irrational values simply did not exist. '

We are continually told but we don't listen. It is so hard to imagine a world where Pi does not exist, almost impossible but not quite.

Egyptians appear to have used fractional relationships because they didn't do decimals and also for a reason and it is a numerical reason. 1.23456789 or 9.87654321 / 8 = 1.23456789 excuse the decimals.

The system they used is extremely complex but can be split into different components. One of the perplexing questions to ask is how much of the system they were using did they understand?

The system's components to date seem to be that it is astro - geo - mathematical
.

The are sub components

Astro

The Nodal cycle
The Saros cycle
Planetary orbital cycles
Eclipse prediction
Precession
Calculation of the Moon wobble prior to an eclipse.
Calculation of the Earth wobble.

Geo

two classes of sub component

Geodetical and Geometrical.

Mathematical

overlaps with Geometrical and also numerical.

So writing an article about overcoming the irrationality of root 2 demonstrates a lack of understanding of Egyptian thought because the didn't do irrational numbers.

Being told the ancients didn't do decimals is the same thing.

They did this it seems

9 + 8/10 + 7/100 + 6/1000 + 5/10000 + 4/100000 + 3/1000000 + 2/10000000 + 1/100000000

And they hid it in two units

100/32 x 256/81 both units being described as ancient Pi one Egyptian. The second number is 4/3 to the power 4 the first is base 100 / base 32 and these numbers are bases within the eclipse system.

Adding the sekhed to these two units produces a powerful cocktail of base units, by adding bases 7 and 11, and Thom's megalithic yard adds bases 13 and 17. So 1 - 17 are fully covered with 32 and 100 and 4/3 prominent.

Jim says

'347.654321 is the side of a square the perimeter of which equals the circumference of the circle with diameter 440 and using 3.160493827'

347.654321 / [9 + 8/10 + 7/100 + 6/1000 + 5/10000 + 4/100000 + 3/1000000 + 2/10000000 + 1/100000000] x 10 = 352

352 x 25/24 = 366.666r

352/17.6 = 20

366.666r /17.6 = 20.833r

These units are defined by the foot of 12 inches and the Roman foot of 12.5 inches.

This interchangeable system works within the structure of the GP using the sekhed.

It is understanding the numbers within the numbers that the numerical part of the system seems to be about.

Now we know what is inside 352 and what lies beyond it is 366.666r. They harmonised the lunar and solar cycles in order the predict eclipses by using the imperial and Roman feet.

Jim knows about the 12.5 inch Roman foot, he has studied it with the help of a professor.
