I've never said they can't be tombs.
I said that there is no direct evidence they are tombs and the ALL OF THE WRITING says they were not tombs. Since the builders said they weren't tombs I'm inclined to believe they meant this comprehensively and that they are not tombs in any way we'd define the term and that none of them are tombs. I don't know.
Egyptologists say there is a mountain of evidence yet they can't find any that positively says they were tombs. I think the simplest explanation for this is they weren't tombs. I would add that there really is no mountain of evidence and there's merely a mountain of et als.
