Yes, you read that opinion in a hundred or more books, didn't you. All those books regurgitating the same tired old OPINION. Opinion ISN'T fact, Charly, no matter how much you wish it to be so. What PROOF can you present that Sneferu's goal was to build a true pyramid? Why isn't it just as possible that Sneferu desired to build as many pyramids in his lifetime as he possibly could (as part of a national recovery system for the kingdom)?
after the problems

So "after the problems with the Bent" why did Sneferu continue to build it long after these problems were identified? Why not stop building at the point the problem of too steep a slope became apparent, re-use the blocks from the Bent to help in the conversion of Meidum and the new construction of the Red? This suggests to me that Sneferu continued to build the Bent long after the problem of the slope became obvious because he simply didn't give a hoot about building a true pyramid.

Indeed. And the core STILL stands over 4,000 years later. Like I said--one builder knew what they were doing, the other didn't.

No. It suggests Sneferu was adapting an existing monument and didn't have the experience at that point to do it correctly, hence the collapse of the conversion HE built.
Give the books a rest Charly and try thinking for yourself. The proof you claim to be all around that the pyramids were conceived as tombs is only in your imagination I'm afraid. If you cannot see that simple truth then there is little I or anyone else can do to help you see it.
