I also assume that the third hole is a partial hole at the broken corner.

As for the spacing, it's based on a 3.5" inch hole.
If there were any photographic distortion it would also apply to the hole diameters.
The photo seems to indicate that the spacing is more than two hole diameters. 2 X 3.5.
Which is appreciably more than seven inches.
I estimate just over eight inches.
