Perhaps, but logic should already have done that by comparing total distance MOVED by ramp vs direct vertical lift, stupid they weren't.
Houdin painted himself into a corner before crediting the builders' ability beyond rock-dragging many times the minimum distance possible to 'gain' what? The extra distance increases time and total effort required in sweat.
'Of course!' to quote Houdin. :)
An astute observation. I finally realized today a major flaw in Houdin's proposal. A flaw that cannot be overcome and/or disputed, unless he does away with his lifting and turning stones 90 degrees. This is the only way, I see how to avoid what I am about to show. You would need to do away with any stoppage in all corners, when changing from one angle/direction into another. The Interior tunnels would need to have a radius turn. No lifting and turning any stones 90 degrees. But then, that would become my spiral proposal, and not Houdins.:)
Houdin proposal has 22 corners to reach the top. The line grinds to a stop 22 times, lifting and turning each stone, at each end. They are on a 3 minute time schedule. One stone every 3 minutes. It's not because they consume 2-5 minutes in this realignment that causes the major delivery issue, it's because... this is happening all the time, all at different time intervals. The higher the build, the more frequent the entire line grinds to a stop, as the tunnels become shorter and shorter, and as those ends approach faster and faster. Those group of men reaching the last corner, at the top (short distance), would be stopping those on the first run, (long distance), time and time again, as the line progresses forward.
Understand, actually it is worse than that, due to all the variable time of stoppages, due to all the variable tunnel lengths. Everyone only gets to move, on the speed of the group who has reached the end, and is subject to all the others, not having any delays. The teams reach each corner at different times. This would cause some teams waiting on other teams, as the lift and turning stones, all happen at different intervals. The assembly line is constantly staggering and losing time.
It is an unworkable theory... as the stoppage becomes MANIFOLD.
