The original motivation for choosing 360 as the number of degrees in a circle is unknown. At least we know that it came to be a long, long time ago—as in 4 or 5 thousand years ago with the Sumerians, or perhaps other even more ancient groups.

One theory states that it is related to the fact that 360 is approximately the number of days in a year.

Another theory is that the Sumerians subdivided the circle using the angle of an equilateral triangle as the basic unit and further subdivided the latter into 60 parts following their sexagesimal numeric system.

In this post I will show how the number 360 relates to natural numbers.

360 x 123456789 = 44,444,444,040

44,444,444 / 40 = 1,111,111.1

360 / 1,111,111.1 = 0.000324 (324 is a perfect square number)

360 / 324 = 1.11111111

360 x 987654321 = 355,555,555,560

3/ 55 = 0.0545454 (The sine of an angle of 54 degrees is half the golden ratio.)

0,0545454 / 60 = 9,090909090 (90 degrees in a right angle)

360 / 54 = 6.66666666

360 / 9,87654321 = 36.449999999

36 / 44 = 0,81818181 ( 81 is a perfect square number 92)

360 / 81 = 4.444444444

360 / 333 = 1.081081081

1 / 81 = 0.012345679012345679

1 + 81 = 82

82 / 81 = 1,012345679012345679

355,555,555,560 / 44,444,444,040 = 8

360 + 350 + 340 + 330 + 320 etc = 6660

299792 ( speed of light) / 360 = 832.7555

8327 / 555 = 15.00360360360

40,000 ( polar circumference of Earth in km) / 360 = 111.1111111

360 / 111.1111111 = 3.24000000324

3 x 24 = 72

72 / 324 = 0.22222222

72 x 360 = 25920 ( Number of years in The Precession of the Equinoxes)

360 / 1,6180339887 (The golden ratio) = 222.4922

49 / 22 = 2.2272727272

43200 ( number of seconds in 12 hours ) / 360 = 120

120 / 360 = 0,333333333

2978 (orbital speed of Earth in m/s) / 360 = 8,2722222

8 x 27 = 216

216 x 2 = 432 (radius of the Sun in miles / 1000)

432 / 360 = 1.2

216 / 2 = 108 (The diameter of the sun is about 108 times that of the diameter of Earth.)

360 / 108 = 3.333333

360 x 3 = 1080 ( radius of the Moon in miles)

The mass of the sun is 333,000 bigger than Earths mass

360 / 333,000 = 0,00108108108 (The diameter of the sun is about 108 times that of the diameter of Earth.)

360 / 384,400( distance to moon) = 9.365,24 x 10-4 There are exactly 365.24 days in a year

2,713,406 ( circumference of the Sun in miles ) / 360 = 7537.23888888

75 / 37 = 2.027027027027

2 / 27 = 0,074074074074

360 / 74 = 4.864864864 (There are 86400 seconds in 24 hours)

23 / 888 = 0.025900900900900

259/ 9 = 28.777777

28 / 777 = 0,0360360360 ( We go full circle and return to 360)

6,371 (The average distance to the centre of the Earth) 360 = 17.697222222

17 / 697 = 0.0243902439024390

243 / 9 = 27 (Twenty-seven is a perfect cube, being 33)

360 / 27 = 13.333333

13 / 333 = 0.039039039

3 / 9 = 0,3333333

The only single numbers in the Fibonacci sequence is 1,2,3,5 and 8

360 x 1.2358 = 444.888

180 x 1,2358 = 222.444

Pi = 3.1415926

If we multiply the first 6 decimal numbers we get 360

1 x 4 x 1 x 5 x 9 x 2 x 6 = 360

360 / 299700 ( Speed of light in air) = 0.0012012012012 Here we see 12 repeated over and over
