Regarding the 22ft, Rigano says the entrances of G3-b/c extend 13-14ft past the exterior of the pyramids. Using my ruler, if 1/4" = 2.5ft then from the vertical plane of the alcove to the casing blocks I get roughly 20ft. From the entrance to the casing blocks I get about 8-10ft. There would also be a few feet of extension to build out the architrave, so lets say 10ft.
20'-10'-14'= -4ft. So the rough length we would expect to find the stepped core to be behind the alcove is at least 2-4ft The pavement of the alcove is the exposed area that would be the "apron" around the stepped core Rigano referred to that the exterior sits on.
