Here we can see (top photo) the base of at least one of the beams sits behind a wall of fitted masonry little to no different than what is found directly behind it:
If the level of blocks to the left is any indication, this masonry would have extended across the length of the floor to a height directly below the cross members covering the bases of all the beams. If the beams were part of a later "restoration", it would appear installing cut and dressed stone to fit was part of this process.
