There are many ways to get mechanical advantage but every single one of them increases the total amount of work required. Most of them increase the room over which the work is applied or the time it must be applied. In every case they increase the total work by the reciprocal obf the efficiency by defintion.

I do like this specific method as a proposal for pyramid construction since it can be used on the narrow steps with a simple anchor and pulley. It allows the entire side of the pyramid to be used by teams lifting stones since it is secure and robust. It is far more efficient than debunked ramps and a series of these up the side would move stones very quickly with only several hundred workers per line. The primary causes of injury would be falls and broken ropes. Of course this doesn't explain why the pyramid is stepped.
